Choose your physical tuning.
Start with the tuning your guitar is actually in. Standard, drop and extended low-tuning families are handled directly inside the plugin.
A real-time virtual tuning engine built from the ground up specifically for electric guitar. Change tuning instantly while keeping the attack, weight and feel that make a guitar sound like a guitar.
DOWN//TUNE is designed to make virtual tuning feel simple: tell it where the guitar starts, choose how far you want to move, and it shows you exactly where you land.
Start with the tuning your guitar is actually in. Standard, drop and extended low-tuning families are handled directly inside the plugin.
Move from -12 to +4 semitones for normal virtual tuning, with dedicated Whammy options when you want to go further upward.
DOWN//TUNE translates the shift into the resulting tuning name, so you can think like a guitarist instead of doing semitone maths.
Most pitch-shifting technology is designed to work with almost anything. We took the opposite approach and developed our own HALF//SUN pitch engine around the behaviour of electric guitar.
A distorted guitar is an unusually difficult signal to pitch shift. Palm mutes create huge transients, chords contain overlapping harmonic information, sustained notes expose instability, and high gain makes artifacts much easier to hear.
So rather than starting with a general-purpose library and building a plugin around it, we started with guitar. The engine was repeatedly developed and tested around power chords, full chords, palm-muted riffs, fast picking, sustained notes, clean tones and high-gain playing.
The goal was never simply to make the pitch lower. It was to make the result useful to a guitarist.
That meant listening for the problems that matter under the fingers: transient smearing, unstable chords, low-end movement, warble on sustained notes and the way high gain exposes artifacts that can stay hidden on cleaner material.
We then built the surrounding workflow around the same guitar-first idea — multiple pitch modes for different jobs, pre-pitch gating, virtual tuning readout and post-shift enhancement controls.
Latency and maximum analysis quality pull in different directions, so DOWN//TUNE gives you three purpose-built ways to work.
Our lowest-latency mode for writing, practising and playing situations where the connection between your hands and the sound needs to feel as immediate as possible.
LIVE prioritises immediacy for real-time playing.
TRACKING is the everyday balance between responsiveness and pitch-shifting quality, tuned around guitar chords, riffs, transients and sustained notes.
MIXING gives the engine substantially more analysis time for recording, reamping, editing and bouncing when latency is no longer the priority.
Pitch shifting a clean, simple signal is one thing. Pitch shifting a high-gain guitar chord while keeping the pick attack, palm-mute impact and harmonic structure believable is another.
Palm mutes create large, fast transients. Chords create overlapping harmonic information. Sustained notes make modulation and instability obvious. High gain then magnifies small pitch-processing artifacts.
So DOWN//TUNE was repeatedly evaluated using the material that tends to break a pitch shifter first: dense chords, low-string chugs, fast changes in articulation and long sustaining notes.
That process is also why the plugin includes its own enhancement section instead of treating pitch shifting as the end of the job.
Pitch shifting changes more than pitch. DOWN//TUNE includes a dedicated set of guitar-focused processors designed to preserve attack, focus, body and control as you move lower.
Restores transient definition that can soften as the guitar is shifted lower, helping fast riffs and articulate picking stay clear.
Moving a guitar downward changes more than its fundamental pitch. The front edge of the note can soften, palm mutes can spread into the low mids, and removing that movement too aggressively can leave the result feeling thin.
PICK ATTACK restores transient definition. PUNCH brings back forward presence. TIGHT controls low-mid movement around palm mutes. WEIGHT returns useful low-end body after the excess has been controlled. GATE works before the pitch engine so the shifter receives a cleaner, tighter signal.
The idea is not to turn DOWN//TUNE into an amp sim. These controls are there to help the shifted guitar arrive at the amp stage in a more useful state.
Choose your physical tuning, change the transpose amount and DOWN//TUNE calculates the resulting virtual tuning for you.
If your guitar is in Drop D and you move down two semitones, the plugin shows Drop C. Continue lower and the naming follows into extended and double-drop ranges, so you never need to stop and calculate note names.
The built-in tuner extends well below conventional guitar ranges for standard instruments, baritones and guitars already tuned extremely low.
The tuner listens to the physical guitar signal before transposition. Its segmented display gives you an immediate view of whether the note is flat, sharp or centred before the signal enters the pitch engine.
Dedicated +12 and +24 semitone Whammy effects give you octave-up pitch jumps without loading another pitch plugin.
Use it for octave-up leads, transitions, special effects and exaggerated pitch movement while keeping the effect inside the same DOWN//TUNE workflow.
DOWN//TUNE keeps the tuning workflow readable while you move through semitones, so experimentation stays fast instead of becoming a calculation exercise.
The transpose controls are designed around quick changes while the physical and virtual tuning displays keep the relationship between the real instrument and the shifted result visible.
Dedicated input and output controls make it easy to level-match DOWN//TUNE with the rest of your guitar chain.
Use the input stage to present a sensible level to the pitch engine and the output stage to match the processed level into the next plugin in your chain.
Put DOWN//TUNE before your amp sim, choose the tuning and build the rest of the rig exactly as you normally would.
One guitar can cover a much wider range of writing and recording situations without stopping to restring, change setups or reach for another instrument every time you want to test a different tuning.
DOWN//TUNE is designed to sit right at the front of the software guitar chain. Choose the tuning, then treat everything after it exactly as you normally would.
“What would this riff sound like another two semitones down?” should be a question you can answer immediately.
The idea behind DOWN//TUNEFor the normal guitar workflow, place it before your amp sim. That lets DOWN//TUNE work from the clean instrument signal before distortion and the rest of the rig are added.
TRACKING is the best general starting point. Use LIVE when the lowest possible playing latency matters most, and move to MIXING when you can trade latency for more analysis during reamping, editing or bouncing.
No. Normal transposition runs from -12 to +4 semitones, and the dedicated Whammy section adds +12 and +24 semitone effects.
That isn't the goal. DOWN//TUNE is designed to remove the friction of changing tuning while writing, recording, practising and experimenting. It gives one well-set-up guitar access to a much wider range without stopping the session.
The 72-hour trial begins when you activate it inside DOWN//TUNE, giving you three days to test the plugin with your own guitar, interface, amp sims and sessions.
No. DOWN//TUNE is sold as a full licence, with a separate 72-hour trial available if you want to test it first.
Pitch shifting is something you should hear and feel for yourself. Try it with your guitar, your pickups, your interface, your amp sims and the riffs you actually play.
